Covance is currently seeking a Histology Supervisor for the Greenfield, IN site.
As a Histology Supervisor your job duties will include:
Collaboration across components
Reports all animal care concerns and becomes involved in resolution and appropriate corrective action, when necessary
Ensures that studies are conducted according to protocol, standard operating procedure documents, and government regulations
Can interpret and understand a complex protocol including numerous work streams
Basic understanding of good research practice (GRP) principles
Monitors quality and productivity metrics
Maintains client confidentiality at all times
Responsible for designating and monitoring specialized roles, e.g., equipment coordinator, FSA ordering agent, forms administrator, weekend team leader responsibilities, scheduling studies
Able to identify process gaps and leverage Process Excellence tools to resolve, may serve as Process Excellence team subject matter expert (SME), may lead corrective action initiatives
Effectively manages time and resources, e.g., equipment, rooms, feed, environmental requirements, study supplies
Drives implementation of strategic initiatives to ensure business continuity
Drives inspection process, e.g., member of inspection team, inspection ready, correcting inspection findings
Fosters an environment that promotes team work and aligns with the Covance culture (e.g., Use tools focused on team building and recognition)
Implementation of employee engagement initiatives
Involved in data management, e.g., may perform standard data analysis, standard report review and generation, metric data entry, archiving, edit and scheduling functions
May become involved in study/protocol administrative duties, e.g., may complete CMS scheduling and protocol editing and quality check procedures
Involved in client/customer management, e.g., may have specific client/customer communication regarding study related activities
Involved in root cause analysis, trouble shooting, and issue resolution on CAIRs and other quality issues
May review, revise or author standard operating procedure documents (SOPs)
May have animal care and use activities (ACUA) input, may provide audit responses
Responsible for the oversight, monitoring and feedback of performance and development of staff
Partner with HR to understand and implement Covance HR model (e.g., staffing justifications, hiring process, disciplinary actions, ect.)
May contribute to the development of CERs and manage approval of area requisitions
May be responsible for the development and implementation of training initiatives
May perform technical procedures or model development
May perform literature searches
May perform histologic procedures
# Education/Qualifications
Bachelor degree in Life Sciences, Associate degree in Laboratory Animal Technology or Associate degree in Veterinary Technology.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education.
Must be able to work in a laboratory setting with laboratory animals
Histology technician certification or Histology technologist certification is preferred, but not required.

Effective previous supervisory and/or mentoring experience.
Histology experience preferred.
