Responsibilities
This position is part of the Global Procurement organization and is responsible for sourcing on behalf of the Elanco Animal Health business unit. The person in this position review the Elanco External Manufacturing business needs and determine the appropriate sourcing processes and/or tools, and implement the appropriate sourcing processes that will bring the most benefit to Elanco. This person will also identify sourcing opportunities and prioritize them, develop and implement category strategies. The role is positioned to reduce costs, reduce risk and maintain quality supply with Elancos manufacturing and contract manufacturing suppliers.
Key Objectives/Deliverables
Working with key Manufacturing management and the Novartis integration sub team leaders, the person in this role will identify, negotiate with and manage suppliers who provide goods and services to meet Elanco's external manufacturing requirements.
This would include suppliers who perform contract manufacturing and indirect services, as well as businesses that develop marketing, advertising and promotional campaigns.
An additional goal of the position is to provide commercial expertise and assist in managing risks from external providers.
The impact of this role can be directly measured in terms of speed to market, cost of product, risk mitigation and product quality.
This role is also responsible for evaluating the category strategies for contract manufacturing and indirect manufacturing services from both Novartis and Elanco and developing a holistic sourcing strategy to integrate the Novartis and Elanco suppliers from the planned acquisition.
In addition, this role is responsible for implementation of the strategy which includes sourcing projects from both companies, and as well oversight of the implementation plan post close.
These activities could include development of Requests for Information, Requests for Proposals as well as negotiation and contract completion post close.
The goal of the strategy is to enable effective and efficient delivery of the innovation pipeline by providing global market intelligence concerning technologies, capabilities, expertise and costs of suppliers who partner with Elanco & Novartis.
This role involves cross-regional coordination of manufacturing, quality, HSE, supply chain, tech services, and Finance for global Novartis integration team.
This role will also review Novartis contracts with the external consultant and clean room; determine appropriate action post costing (e.g. if contracts need to be terminated, modified or negotiated post assignment)
In the role, the person will complete supplier risk assessments for Novartis supply base and develop a supplier consolidation plan post close and implement the actions to complete the consolidation plan over the next two to three years.
The person will also ensure that there are agreements in place that protect Elanco and provide internal clients with the goods and/or services needed to run their organizations in a managed risk environment.
The person in this position must understand the Elanco manufacturing processes, needs, understand the requirements and ensure suppliers meet necessary compliance practices.
This role will perform Procurement responsibilities including managing the proposal and contracting process, negotiating, and managing supplier relationships on behalf of Elanco.
Day to day activities could include work with the external integration consultant as well as manufacturing integration team, and finance to review current contracts and category strategies to determine appropriate next steps, evaluate current category strategies to reduce risk and cost; lead the supplier selection process including sourcing strategy development, market analysis, supplier negotiations and relationship management; develop and maintain knowledge of dynamics in the global marketplace (including China, India, Eastern Europe and Latin America), understand Lilly Manufacturing and related functions areas and requirements by working directly with the leadership teams and various functional supports including EEM, regulatory, HSE, Quality, TS/MS, finance, and other functional procurement.

Bachelor's Degree

Additional Skills/Preferences
Experience
In managing global third party relationships including supplier
Management/oversight, supplier and/or CM selection, negotiation,
Contracting and problem resolution skills
Understanding of API and drug products manufacturing processes (formulation, filling, and finishing)
Experience and knowledge of cGMP manufacturing environment, including MS&T and Quality
Understanding of chemistry and experience in laboratory settings
Proven interpersonal skills especially in conflict situations
Proven skills in negotiating and understanding of commercial law
Ability to network and influence across all levels of management, across organizations, and across multiple regions
Ability to manage work independently

Job Location:
Elanco Greenfield offices or could be in Europe
Travel Requirements:
Domestic and international is possible (30%) for external manufacturing site visits or supplier visits.
This position is not permanent. It is for a fixed duration for up to 4 years.
